Make HIM Famous

Have you ever seen a celebrity up close?
Or think about concerts or sporting events that you've been to.
What always happens when "they" show up?
People screaming, cheering, doing anything
just so that person will have an idea of how much they are loved and supported.
Most of us are jumping up and down,
wearing "their" t-shirts,
faces painted and doing the warchant
(yes, I'm a Seminole fan).

Scroll back many years ago, to the city of Jerusalem,
a man came riding into town on a colt.
And what did the crowd do?
They acted like us when we see someone famous.
They yelled and cheered.
Instead of wearing "HIS" t-shirt,
they took theirs off and laid them on the ground,
along with palm branches.
They were "rolling out the red carpet" for HIM.

Why?
Who was this man and why did he deserve this kind of fame?
The answer is Zechariah.

Approximately 500 years prior,
the prophet Zechariah prophesied about this event.
Everything pointed to THIS man as being THE ONE they had been waiting for.
Every detail of the prophesy was fulfilled.
Jerusalem was finally welcoming their KING.
So when the people saw HIM coming they began shouting,

"Hosanna!"
"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!"
"Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!"
"Hosanna in the highest!"

HE was famous, HE was their hero,
and they were doing their part to show their support and love.

So.....what are we doing?
What are we doing to make HIM famous today?
Maybe wearing the t-shirt quietly?
Or are we out in the streets declaring HIM Lord and King?

No, I'm not saying we should just stand on the streets and yell.
I'm just wondering what kinds of things we are doing in HIS Name
that lets the world know that we love and support HIM,
that our hope is in HIM alone
(and that theirs should be too).

I know that many of us are up to something.
I would love to hear your stories.
Wave those palm branches friends!
Keep making HIM famous!

Easter Devotions (and one for FREE)

Have you been using my Devotions Weekly packets?
In case you haven't....
I wanted to do a FREEBIE so you could get a glimpse of what they're like.

I had a group of kids last year who really wanted to know about the Bible,
and the material that I had to teach from just wasn't making the cut.
That's when I started writing these weekly packets.
Many of them were written after the kids and I had worked through the Scripture together.
Some of the points in these plans came from questions they would ask
or conclusions they made.

The packets are designed to last one week.
They come with 4 or 5 lesson plans and are intended to take
approximately 15-20 minutes per session
(depending on the discussion time with your students).

All you need is a Bible and the packet.
Each packet also features a Verse of the Week.
It comes with several activities to help your students learn the verse.

colorful poster to hang in the classroom

coloring sheet
build-the-verse cards

Some packets also contain a word search,
unscramble the verse and illustrate the verse pages.

Writing Papers are also included.
They can used in whatever way you choose for your students to convey their learning.
Some ideas are...
summary of learning,
write a prayer,
retell the Bible story,
personal application of the week's truths,
bulletin board displays, etc.

Below is my newest packet: EASTER.
The picture shows everything that is included.
And now the promised FREEBIE!
The following Palm Sunday packet is a smaller version
and only contains 1 lesson plan.
Click on the picture to get your FREE copy.
Below are some of my other Devotions Weekly titles.
Keep checking back,
I have several other titles in the works.

Palm Tree FREEBIE

My FREEBIE for TBA this week is in honor of Palm Sunday which will be celebrated this weekend.
I've had this in my store at TPT and I recently revisited it and was embarrassed by how it looked:(
So I trashed the old one and redid it!
It is a palm tree set of number cards 0-100.
They could be used for calendar numbers, number ordering (least to greatest and greatest to least).
It also includes a +,-, and = sign in case you want to use it to build addition and subtraction sentences.
Lots of uses for it. Hope your kids can use it.
I don't know why the last row of numbers is not showing up in the preview file,
but it does show up when you print it (arrrrrg).

Take It & Make It with the 2nd Grade Pad

I'm glad to be back with The 2nd Grade Pad for another week
of Take It and Make It.
In honor of the Easter season, I wanted to share with you a craft idea
that is included in my new Easter packet, He's Alive!
If you click on the cover above, you can download the directions and pattern.
Copy the cross pattern for each child. Or you could have them trace and cut out of card stock.
(I used card stock because I wanted it to be sturdier.)

Next tear up scraps of brown construction paper and have them cover the entire cross with the scraps.
It gives it a rugged, wooden look.
Copy the scripture page and have them fold it over and glue it to itself.
I have included a copy with no color and also a blank template in case you want to choose a different verse,
or have your kids write it themselves.
Be sure to head over to The 2nd Grade Pad to see what else you can find:)
