Facebook is such a great reminder...

you know how your FB memories pop up everyday.

Well when mine showed up this morning,

I knew right away it was something that I needed

to update and repost. 

Several years ago, I did a weekly post on here

called "Memory Verse Monday."

It was always a FREE packet of activities

that focused on different Bible verses.

I later changed "Memory Verse Monday" to "Scripture Sailing"

(same idea, new name).

The verse that came up in my feed today was 1 John 3:1a.

When I looked back at it, I realized that I actually had 2 packets for this verse

(an old one from Memory Verse Monday and

a new one from Scripture Sailing).

I made a few small changes and now here they are.

Verse of the Week

Next week my kids and I will start week 3 of

"Verse of the Week."

Each Monday, I choose a verse for us to focus on,

study, discuss and memorize.

They are LOVING it. 

They get the verse on Monday and we work with it all week.

On Friday, they try to say it from memory.

Most of them get it every week!

My "Scripture Sailing" packets are always FREE here.

It's what I use to practice each week.

Since we are already into February, I'm thinking about LOVE verses.

Next week we are doing John 3:16.

Scripture Sailing and a New Job

I know it's been a while but I'm back at it.

I've been gone for so long that I haven't reported in that I have news:) 

In December I left my teaching job after 23 years.

Two weeks later, I started teaching 3rd grade 

at a private Christian school.

I could NOT be more THRILLED!!!!

I have spent years making Biblical resources that I have never been able to use.

Well, now I can!!!

My new job also makes this scripture sailing thing really helpful to me!

I am doing a "Verse of the Week"

in my classroom.

I simply added a decorated sheet to a picture frame.

Every Monday I write the new verse on the frame with a dry erase marker.

The kids and I practice it every day.

They like making up motions for each part of the verse to help them memorize it.

On Friday, they all try to quote the verse from memory.

I love that they are memorizing scripture.

This coming week our verse will be

Deuteronomy 6:5.

I'm so excited about using the word cards from this packet

during our Word Work Station.

I made the cards to send home for practice.

And coloring/drawing sheets just for fun and it they choose to do them.

There are many days that I wake up unsettled, a little rattled.

Don't like to call it worried (but that's what it is).

Today was one of those days.

My morning routine sends me to the WORD right after I make the coffee, 

and today was no different.

And just like usual, when I need something from HIM, HE gives it to me.

My devotion this morning was about worry and being a control freak.

Who ME????? Yep!

So I got the reminder again this morning to LET IT GO!

(No, I'm not going to sing to you.)

But I am going to try to keep in mind that HE IS IN CONTROL,

that worry is not helping anything.

So here is the SCRIPTURE SAILING verse of the day....

Thanksgiving break!

This is the 1st year that our district has been off the whole week.

Yes, I know they'll tack those days on somewhere else on the calendar,

but right this minute, I'm LOVING it!!

So while I'm still sitting around drinking coffee and being lazy on a Monday morning,

I made a little FREEBIE for you in our

SMOOTH SAILING series.

It's a small packet that features Psalm 8:9.

If you've been hanging around here for any length of time,

you might remember when I used to do

MEMORY VERSE MONDAY.

Yep, I know, it's been a while.

Anyway, I have been feeling completely guilty for not getting it done.

I have wanted to change it for a while but just couldn't figure out what to do with it.

Our family has had a VERY ROUGH weekend

and after spending a lot of time in the scripture and in prayer over the last couple of days.....

this is what came out of it.

SCRIPTURE SAILING 

will be the new name of my FREEBIE Biblical packets.

They are basically the same format as the old ones,

but they feel new to me.

I hope they will be a blessing to you and your students.

This week's pack features Psalm 145:21.

God gave me this verse last Wednesday night during our church service.

But HE made it real to me this past weekend.

HE reminded me that when so many things can and do go "wrong" in our lives,

that we have the choice to praise HIM anyway.

HE is worthy of our praise, 

even when we are not getting our way.

My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord.

Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.

Psalm 145:21
