Meet the Captain

Ahoy! Welcome to Pirate Girl 101!

My name is Merinda Nunez Astles

and I'm the author behind Pirate Girl's Education Invasion.

I'm married to the man of my dreams, Steve,

and between us we have 5 children and 3 grandbabies.

I have been teaching for 25 years
(1st, 2nd 3rd grade
Reading Intervention Instructor
Bible Studies Teacher).

I recently left my position in the
public school system after 23 years.
Steve and I felt God opening the door for me to teach
in the Christian school at our former church.

I am the Curriculum Coordinator

and I also teach Bible Study for grades 1-5.
There is nothing like being able to combine
my love for Jesus and
my love of teaching!

We (my mom and extended family) live in the
beautiful, small town of Fernandina Beach, Florida
(real picture of our beach).
It is located on Amelia Island.
Our town has a very rich history,
it has been under 8 flags,
named after Princess Amelia,
and inhabited by pirates
(that's where the pirates come in).

Our mascot (for our 1 high school) is a pirate,
so everyone here grew up wanting to be a pirate,
me included!

When I opened my business at
TeachersPayTeachers
and began my blog,
it just seemed natural to me to name it
something piratey :)

I spend most of my writing time on 

Bible Task Cards,

Weekly Devotions,

and Bible Packets 

although there are many other items in my store.
